GENERAL FAQ'S TO REVIEW
“I’m a first time guest, is this where I’m supposed to go?”
Be sure to welcome this guest and let them know you’re excited that they are here! Introduce the Connection Card to them by saying something like “We do a lot of fun things here at Starpoint and want to make sure you’re always in the loop. This Connection Card helps us know the best ways to contact you!” While they complete the form, grab them their t-shirt and any Starpoint cards/QR code cards for them. Be sure to explain what each card is for.
“It’s my third time here, is this where I'm supposed to go?"
You’ll want to explain what Info Central is to them and walk them over to a podium, introducing them by name to the volunteer.
“I have a financial need and I was hoping that Starpoint could help”
Be a gentle and kind presence for this guest in need, letting them know you will go grab someone who can talk with them and see what we can do. At this point, grab any staff member or your team leader and they will connect with this guest.
“I don't have a Bible and was wondering if you had any extras that I could take home?”
WOW! What an honor to provide someone with their first Bible! These are located in the Map Room on the counter, between the praying hands. Use this open door as an opportunity to have a personal conversation about their faith with them.
An emotional guest enters the Map Room
Take a moment to slow down and create space for a deeper conversation, offering them a bottle of water and tissues. You may gently explore where they are spiritually by asking questions like, “Are you new to church?”, “Are you coming back to faith?”, “What do you feel God is stirring in your heart right now?”. End a heavy conversation with prayer, even if they don’t want to disclose specific details.
A first time guest walks in carrying a Fresh Start bag
If a first-time guest walks in with a New Believer bag and has already prayed with a Prayer Team member, take time to celebrate with them and encourage them! Ensure they have scanned the QR code on the bag so a staff member is able to follow up with them during the week.
If they did not receive a bag, but are ready to accept Christ, this is an amazing moment for you both! Grab a Fresh Start bag and review everything inside it. Begin with the prayer card and have them repeat after you. Again, be sure they can the QR code so we can follow up with them.
A guest discloses that they may be in an abusive situation
If a guest discloses that they are in an abusive situation or you observe any red flags, please ask the Safety Team member to radio for Pastor James, Pastor Chad, Pastor Joe, or Maryanna. They will be able to assist this guest in connecting with the help they need.
Red flags may include: visible injuries, extreme fear, extreme submisiveness, a controlling partner who answers for them, statements about not being allowed to make decisions, someone closely monitoring them, lack of personal ID or access to money, or avoidance of eye contact.
